3,500 Pounds of Dog and Cat Food Donated to Feed Animals Awaiting Adoption
Holistic Select® pet food recently donated 3,500 pounds of dog and cat food to Bideawee, one of the country’s oldest and most respected animal welfare and pet adoption organizations, as part of its “Worth Our Weight” pet food drive. The event was held in conjunction with the grand opening of the new PETCO superstore in Manhattan’s Columbus Square.
More than 100 dogs and cats participated in the charitable weigh-in, which kicked off with a special appearance by actress Kelly Rutherford and her dog, Oliver, who was the first pet to hit the scale. For every pet who weighed in, Holistic Select donated an equivalent amount of pounds of pet food.
“We are thrilled to be the beneficiary of this generous donation from Holistic Select, said Nancy Taylor, President and CEO of Bideawee. “It’s exciting that with their help, we can provide wholesome natural food and treats for our dogs and cats who are waiting to find their forever homes.”
The “Worth Our Weight” pet food drive was part of a promotion for the recently launched Holistic Select Health Scale (www.petwiseparent.com/healthscale), a tool designed to help pet parents evaluate and improve the holistic health of their cats and dogs. The new tool focuses on five main areas of holistic pet health: nutrition, education, socialization, physical health and environment. Participants rank their pets on a scale of one to five based on the accuracy of a set of statements pertaining to each area. The fun and interactive online tool was available onsite at the event as a way for pet parents to discover how they’re doing with respect to their pet’s whole-body health and gain valuable insight with experts’ tips for improvement or just as a refresher.
